Food Planning

We have been having a few camp trips over the past 12 months and each time we pack the food we think of the Cape Trip and how we can minimise waste and keeping weight down.

Being a foodie I can't bear to eat sausages, spag bol and toasted sandwiches every night.  I love fresh vegetables, salads and stirfrys so with that in mind thats how we will be packing our pantry, fridge and freezer.

Ive been trying different ways of storing food and keeping weight down.

A few ideas have been as follows:-

Storing food

VACUUM SEALER

Buy bulk nuts, seeds, dry food and divide them up.  Store in vacuum packs.

Ive been buying the small 2 x steak vacuum sealed meat pack lately for camp, they are great and freeze and store well however doing it yourself saves on the meat trays taking up space.  Even 200gm packs of pork mince for san chow bao and beef mince for meat patties.

I have learnt  not to dice or slice the raw chicken and store as sometimes I change my mind on what I am cooking.

We have lithium so we are taking the vacuum sealed with us so we can freeze leftovers, nothing worse than wasting food.  Premade meals are great for those nights when you are tired or not feeling  great.
