This afternoon, We called Toyota, again.
This time a smidge of an update. "The Mechanic has done a little work, but also has 3 hours scheduled to it tomorrow. Then they'll have the head off and can take the photo".
"The Photo" is needed for Toyota to determine if they are responsible or not - or how much they may cover, or not. Then it is about 2 days to put the case to Head Office for a reply.
They changed the design of the piston at the exact year of my Prado. It was made lighter and a bit weaker, so they are prone to failure in the same way that occurred in my Prado. It only happens in some of that model - not all of them.
We had asked that they start ordering parts two weeks ago so there would be n further delay. I asked again today and it seem they have not done so. They said they have lots of parts, and would order them when needed. When I reminded him it would be better just to order the parts ... I got the reply "oh, thats a good idea".
OMG !!!!
Sam - an 70 year old guy - camping with his wife - just across from us, came and explained he is a religious person and believes in helping people - he has offered to once home in Townsville come back up and tow our van to Townsville for us - an offer we could not accept - I just could not put someone out like that, and it is not what we need really - but we were very touched by this old fellow. They are rare people, but nice people do walk among us.
Anyway, today was a lazy day - we sat around the van, swam in the pool and went for a long walk to try the last fish and chip shop - we were determined to find a good piece of fish in Cardwell. I report that that did not happen - all fish here is crap wrapped in batter.
We walked home taking lots of sunset photos. Also note that Ep 8 went up today the links are here

Great sunset shots. As for fish you know that no one can beat Sylvan Beach. Looks you are living in a secluded tropical island. Good luck with Toyota. Jj
