A really big day today.
Firstly the Caravan seems to be doing the job well (connected to power). We have really only used it solidly off grid until now.
We are also finding we are quite well set up from a cooking and comfort point of view. There have been some cold mornings and we appear to be surviving them well.
The "heathy food" thing continues - and I appear to have survived.
We picked up the Rental car.
We have decided against Paronella Park as the entry fee of $52 each includes camping - so we may do this once we are able to take the Caravan north again.
Today we drove to Mission Beach stopping in at Tully to talk to Toyota about the car.
The Service guy in Tully was most helpful, and they have decided to start a "case" for us as he said what had happened should not have and was most unusual.
It is subject to approval (which would take about 2 days or so).
We need to submit our records of service and receipts etc etc.
We also had to halt all work being done by the Mechanic in Cardwell. So far the engine has arrived early and he was about to about work on it - saying it would be ready by next Thursday. Obviously with $13.5k at stake we need to see if Toyota can help.
If they approve, they ship the car to Tully and do the work at their cost.
The down sides;
1) Toyota have no spare "bottom engines" for 3-4 weeks.
2) We would have to pay the mechanics freight (approx. $600 each way)
So in short - its worth the gamble. It would mean our whole trip would be spent in Cardwell and largely without a car.
We may end up renting one - we'll see what happens.
If Toyota reject and we continue with the Cardwell Mechanic, we'll be on the road by end of next week and 13.5k out of pocket.
We wont know either way for a few more days.
Tully was interesting with its huge Sugar plant pumping away !
The Sugar Train in Tully was quite cool.

We stopped at Bingle Bay and went for a walk out on the pier.
